18A: Customer Avatar

My ideal customer could be from a wide variety of backgrounds and have many characteristics, as I believe that my product could be found useful by anyone. However, I believe that there are two kinds of customer who would be more likely to find a daily use for this product: the large dog owner, and the outdoorsman.

The avatar:
-       Drives a mid-size/large SUV to hold their dog, paddleboard, kayak, etc. (Maybe a green or light blue Subaru).
-       18-30 years old. If older, are still very active.
-       Enjoy National Geographic and Animal Planet.
-       Could have messy children or friends.
-       Own dogs or cats who get a little too close to their drinks.
-       Enjoys their beer so much they couldn’t stand losing a drop.
-       Tired of cleaning spills.

Honestly, I feel as though I have everything in common with this avatar, minus the children. I love the outdoors and love my dog even more. But I’m definitely tired of cleaning the beer spills, especially since I plan on finishing them. My friends do get a little rowdy which can also cause some spills. I don't believe this is a coincidence, mostly because we were asked to identify thigns that bug US at the beginning of the course, and have built off that since.

  1. Max,
Your avatar description made me laugh! Basically your product is made for hippies who like a good beer? Sounds like a nice lifestyle in the Subaru and a kayak on the roof rack. I think this is a pretty accurate avatar, but I could also see my highly-active multi-tasking mom using the product for her coffee cup too, since she spills her coffee in her car a lot. I think you could really sell this product to a wide variety of customers. Don't forget to include some pictures in your submission of what you think your customer might look like/ act like!

  2. Max,

Wow your customer avatar was very very detailed. I loved how you thought even more into what kind of car you might drive if you are a pet owner or if you are not a pet owner. I also agree with you saying that you have things in common with the avatar. I believe that most people are going to have things in common with the avatar they create because they base the idea off something they want to fix.

  3. dear maxwell,
this is a well thought out character and i feel as though he is very conditioned to being careful but adventurous. additionally, when you differentiate between pets or non pet owners i feel as though that is a great differentiation for people.
overall it is very appealing to have things in common with your avatar.

  4. Max,

I think your post is very descriptive of the customer. I can tell that you put a great deal of thought into who you would market this towards and once you were done, probably had done a large amount of describing yourself to us. Something else that I find interesting is that most of your points do not relate to me; basically the only point that does is the age range. However, this is still a product that I would be very intrigued by if it were to come to fruition; it is something that I still feel could benefit most people if they came across it for the right price.
