11A: Idea Napkin

1.I am a big outdoorsman from Miami Beach. I enjoy spending time in the water, especially paddle boarding, as well as hanging with my dog. I am also very hands-on, and enjoy building projects with friends or family, as my dad works in construction. This company could help dog owners and outdoorsman find a stable place for their beverage for a low cost and that fits almost any bottle shape. This can be used for rocking/wet surfaces as well as low tables where animals can knock drinks over.

2. I am offering a product that allows the consumer to not worry about their drink falling. Whether it’s on an unstable/rocking/wet surface, such as a paddle or surfboard, or on a table where their animals (or themselves) can easily knock it over.

3. My ideal customer is the person who may be clumsy, knocking drinks over on occasion, as well as pet owners whose animals get a little too close sometimes, and even those who spend time in places where having a safe place to hold your drink is often impossible (e.g. surfers/paddleboarders).

4. This product will prevent damage to furniture, carpets, and expensive electronics as well as other personal belongings. Replacing or fixing these products can often be very expensive, and this cup would significantly lower the chances of a spill.

5. I have personal experiences with this problem, from all of my ideal consumer's points of view. Whether I knock my drink off my nightstand, or my dog knocks it off the table with his strong long tail, or I’m getting dehydrated on my paddleboard, I could see this going to use. I’m very hands-on and would like to consider myself creative and innovative in the sense that I am always looking to improve even the simplest aspects of my life.

I believe that all of my aspects fit together. This is a product that can make people’s lives easier in a very frequent situation. It is a simple problem with a simple solution that can be applied to anyone who considers themselves (or their dogs) clumsy enough, or in need of a safe place to hold their drink when participating in outdoor activities. I also believe that there are numerous other devices that can be developed to compliment this product and make it even more applicable.

  1. Max,
I think your idea is very convenient for people who might be clumsier than others! We are almost always put in a situation where the cup is at the edge of a table and it results in a big spill and cleaning up after. This could definitley come in handy when people do outdoor sports, such as paddleboarding. A cup like this could fit the situation perfectly. Great napkin idea!

  2. Max,

As an outdoorsman (outdoorswoman?) myself, I like the design and the coozie-esque concept behind your design. Including a sketch is helpful to visually explain your product as well. I think you have a good plan and also a good general idea of which customers would fall into your target customer range, and which kind of customers may not. While my dog is not big enough to knock my drinks on tables, I can see use for this product on boats and paddle boards.
